Welcome

Oasis Church serves Scotland’s newest city, Perth, and the surrounding area by seeking to live and demonstrate the life of Jesus Christ, and to establish a place of spiritual refreshment, healing and love, open to all.

During the Covid-19 crisis our meetings have been suspended. We are posting regular teaching online; to get a flavour of who we are, please see our Facebook page

Teaching series Jan-Apr 2021 – Philippians – Facebook Live, Sundays 3.00

Visitors are very welcome at Oasis, and we hope you will enjoy our loving, family atmosphere.

Oasis is a church for people who are hungry for God. Every time we meet together we want to encounter the Living God. First, through passionate praise and worship, pressing together into His presence and pouring out our love for the Lord. Then to enjoy Him as He expresses His fatherly love to us through the gifts of the Holy Spirit, in prophecy, revelations, shared scriptures and prophetic songs.

As a church that seeks to value both Word and Spirit, in our preaching we seek to have an encounter with God’s truth, expressed in His Word, the Bible. Revelation of truth transforms our lives and brings us into increasing and ongoing freedom. If you are hungry for God we invite you to visit Oasis, to come and drink and join us as we pursue life changing encounters with Jesus. There are opportunities to receive prayer ministry either during or after every service.

Our pastor Robert spoke a while ago about Oasis Vision and Values – here’s the link to the teaching notes, and of course you will also find it in the audio section of the site:

Oasis Vision. July 2019

In the AUDIO section of our web site you will find items which will give you a flavour of who we are, what we believe, where we are coming from. Please dip in!

We hold a variety of mid-week meetings, usually on a Friday evening. We have a monthly extended worship evening, inviting the presence of the Holy Spirit.

Teaching series Jan-Apr 2021 – Philippians

Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a very suitable teaching topic for us right now because Paul was writing from a lockdown situation. He was writing from prison in Rome and he was most likely chained to a Roman soldier as he was dictating this letter; he refers a few times to his chains. For Paul this was a very serious lockdown. He was physically restricted to an extreme degree. However, he managed to turn his captivity into opportunity. Firstly, he was able to write letters to encourage Christians in the churches he had established. Secondly, the guard was changed every four hours so Paul literally had a captive audience. He was therefore able to send greetings to the Philippian believers from members of Caesar’s household.

The gospel had penetrated to the very heart of the Roman Empire thanks to Paul’s imprisonment.

Paul may have been in lockdown physically but internally he was free – and rejoicing. Joy is the recurring theme of this letter and Paul has much to teach us about living joy-filled in times of difficulty and restriction. He also writes about being perfectly content in these circumstances. He shares his secret with us in this letter.  We can also learn from Paul how to “rejoice in the Lord always.”

Paul’s letter to the Philippians is a Christ-exalting letter. It helps us to understand the great love that the Father has for us in sending his Son to die for our sins and to be raised in resurrection power, so gaining the “Name that is above every other Name.” Christ is the source of Paul’s joy, contentment and future hope.

Finally, Paul teaches the Philippians  – and us – how to live as citizens of heaven, here on the earth. Just as Philippi was an outpost of Rome, spreading Roman thinking, culture and influence all around Macedonia, so those who believe in Jesus  are individually, and together, outposts of heaven, here on the earth. Our true citizenship is there and we are called to share the thinking, culture and influence of heaven here, where God has placed us.  Paul invites us to “join with others in following my example.Phil 3:17,  so as we spend time working systematically through this wonderful letter  let us respond to Paul’s invitation  in chapter 4 verse 9: “Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me – put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified, do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9.

Jesus still brings new life, forgiveness, freedom from oppression and sickness and hope to all who respond to his love. The purpose of this teaching series is for us to get to know him better and to experience his kingdom rule breaking into our lives and the lives of those we love.

Join us on this faith building adventure because this Jesus, our Jesus,  is the same, yesterday, today and forever!

Let us become your dwelling place, Lord.
